Do kids need prior running experience?
Nope! We work with everyone, from beginners just starting out to experienced racers.
Do both locations offer the same experience?
Not necessarily. Kiwanis practices primarily use a 400m track, which lends itself better to more structured workouts and larger attendance. Veterans Memorial practices use trails exclusively, which limits the amount of kids and types of workouts that we can do. While these days still get a workout, there is a greater emphasis on pure movement rather than times.
What gear is required?
Just running shoes and a water bottle. A GPS watch is very helpful but is by no means required.
Do you do sprints or field events?
We do sprints for FUN only (relays, casual races, etc). These are usually at the end of practice and are meant to complement our middle distance training. We do not specifically train sprints and we do not train any field events in any capacity.
Do we have to race?
Absolutely not, racing is completely optional and available to all tiers. We encourage it for those who are interested, but our main focus is on fun, growth, and fitness.
How does membership work?
Membership is month-to-month, no long-term commitment required. You can upgrade or change your membership level if your child wants to attend more or fewer practices (based on availability).
How long are practices?
Practices typically last around 60-75 minutes.
What if my child misses a practice?
No problem! Kids are welcome to attend another session that week as a make-up, if space allows. Just give us a heads-up ahead of time.
Can we change our selected practice days?
You are free to change days anytime week to week, and even encourage attending different days and locations!
Do you offer discounts for multiple kids?Yes! Siblings can be added at a reduced rate. Exact rate depends on membership level.
What age range is the club for?
Team FTC Kids is designed for elementary and middle schoolers (generally 2nd–8th grade), but feel free to contact us if you have a younger or older child who’s interested.
Where are practices held?
We currently meet at Veterans Memorial Park and Kiwanis Challenge Park.
Do parents need to stay during practice?
You’re welcome to stay and watch, but it’s not required. We’ll always have your emergency contact info on hand, and safety is a top priority.
